Ed has been with New York Life since 2002, and in the financial services industry since 1992. Ed stared his career as a fee-based financial advisor with American Express Financial Advisors (now Ameriprise), was quickly promoted into management, and eventually became a Field Vice President. After joining the Greater Washington General Office of New York Life in 2002, he won the National Recruiter award in 2003, and was the #1 ranked Partner in the country in total unit production at the time he was promoted to Senior Partner in 2005. He was then promoted to the position of Managing Partner of the Baltimore General Office- and during his time in Baltimore (2006-2016), he grew the G.O. from 94th to 32nd in total production.  He was then promoted in 2016 to be the Managing Partner of the Greater Washington General Office, one the largest and most influential G.O.'s in the entire company.

Ed is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA), is a Board Member on the Babe Ruth Foundation and Sports Legends Museum in Baltimore, served on New York Life Managing Partners Advisory Council (MPAC) in 2010-11 as Vice Chairman, and in 2015-16 as President- and also serves on the Community Impact Grant Committee of the New York Life Foundation.

Ed attended the University of Maryland, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics. He has also earned the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) and Chartered Advisor for Senior Living (CASL®) professional designations.

Ed is an avid sports fan (Orioles and Ravens season ticket holder), coaches his sons' baseball and basketball teams, and he and his wife Paulina (a New York Life Council Agent) reside in Woodstock, MD. with their two sons.

Satchie Carvounis, a graduate of Emory University, joined the Greater Washington Office in April of 2013.  She has 18 years of experience in sales management and training and in a prior sales management position, developed a sales force of 90 people and earned 18 sales awards. In another prior sales position, Satchie was the Client Service Specialist and then Regional Manager of a full-service self-directed IRA administrator.  What she liked most about her job was educating prospective clients about the benefits of self-directing their retirement investments.  As a Regional Manager, she was a speaker on financial topics, specifically on real estate investing, in the National Real Estate Investor Associations and RE investor clubs in MD, DC, VA, WV, NJ, TX, LA, CA and HI, as well as the Financial Planners of NY in Manhattan.  She has been a commercial real estate investor since 2006.


When the opportunity arose with New York Life, Satchie knew her past sales management and training, as well as her experience as a speaker on financial topics around the country, would be a perfect match with the training, culture and reputation of New York Life.  She has earned two Executive Councils and Annuity Elite with New York Life.  The best part of her job is the deep satisfaction she gets from attracting high caliber individuals and providing them with mentorship and leadership to develop them into strong, successful Financial Service Professionals.  Satchie is married and lives with her husband, three parrots and their dog in Montgomery County.  They have two grown daughters and a granddaughter and enjoy the mountains and the beach, travelling to the Caribbean, baseball, and cooking together.

Rosani Hernandez was born in El Salvador. After retiring from a professional gymnastics career, she and her family moved to Woodbridge, Virginia in 2008.  In 2015 she obtained her bachelor’s in business management from George Mason University. After four years in the banking industry Rosani joined New York Life in 2017.

As a Financial Professional, she created stability and peace of mind providing financial solutions for individuals, families, and business owners. In April 2018, she was promoted into a leadership role making her the first Latina Partner in the Greater Washington General Office. As a Partner her vision is to offer a career opportunity to change people’s lives through integrity, work ethic, and personal growth. Her mission is to provide financial security and peace of mind to the community. Her passion is to empower others to become a better version of themselves.

She is  part of the Leadership Prince William and Mujeres de HACE Alumni. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her family and friends biking or snowboarding. Servant leadership is the motto she lives by and giving back to the community is what she enjoys the most.

Joel Albert has been in financial services (specifically leadership, development, and sales management) since 2003. After beginning as an agent for Monumental Life in Carlisle PA, he was promoted to Sales Manager within 18 months and later to numerous other leadership positions with Monumental Life and Transamerica, both under the AEGON N.V. Insurance Group umbrella. He has earned many industry and company awards over the years as both an Advisor and Manager. After 9 years with Transamerica, Joel came to New York Life in 2012 directly as a Partner and by 2015 had become one of the top Partners in the organization nationally. He is also affiliated with Eagle Strategies, LLC as a Financial Planner, and is currently working as a Partner building his local team of Advisors in the Frederick MD area. He is a member of NAIFA (National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors) and has served as a past board member. Joel’s insurance licenses include Life/Annuity & Health, Variable Lines, and Property & Casualty. His FINRA securities registrations include series 6, 63, 7, 24 and 66.

In his spare time Joel enjoys basketball, golf, good wine, weight training, and tennis. He has lived in the Spring Ridge community of Frederick for 10 years with his wife Carolyn, 3 children, and 2 step-children.

Jeff O’Neill is a Partner at the Greater Washington DC, New York Life General Office. 

He leads, mentors, and develops each Financial Services Professional on his team.

Jeff was a New York Life Agent and Registered Representative from 2017 – 2020.  He achieved Executive Council in 2019 and 2020.

Jeff is a retired Lieutenant Colonel, United States Marine Corps, and assists with military retirement and veteran career transitions.

Luis Urbina was born and raised in Venezuela. After playing organized soccer at his native country, Luis immigrate to the United States in 1999 where he attended college and played NCAA Division II. In 2004, he relocated to Maryland from Massachusetts where he started his 17 years career in the banking and financial industry, working primarily in wealth management and leadership roles.

Luis joined the New York Life family in 2020 as a Licensed Financial Services professional. After a few months in the role, Luis was quickly appointed as Partner in early 2021 where he currently holds a leadership role.

Luis primary mission is recruiting and developing a team of financial professionals in the Greater Washington DC area.

Luis lives in Montgomery County with his wife Jessica and his 2 children.

Jean-Marie Leonard earned her bachelor’s degree from UCLA and MBA from Strayer University.  She worked in acquisitions for a REIT for 12 years and then was a Vice President of Partnerships for a student housing organization in the Washington DC area. 

Jean-Marie’s desire for helping others and a challenging career brought her to New York Life.  She began her New York Life career in 2020 and quickly made her mark.  During her first year she developed her book of business helping families and the women’s market, was an Executive Council Agent and promoted into management.  Jean-Marie believes that you can build something for yourself and it doesn’t have to be by yourself.  She uses that belief not only to help her clients but also agents within her unit. 

Jean-Marie is active in the International Association of Women and various business associations in the Northern Virginia area. Outside of work, she has been a youth girls soccer coach and is a mother of two.

Dominique joined New York Life's Greater Detroit Office in 2008 as an agent. Before transitioning into management, she qualified for the Life Career Success Award, Life Career Producer Award, Council in 2009, 2010, and 2011 and was a Life All Star. Her involvement in numerous nonprofit and community organizations has driven her passion for this business. In the fall of 2011, Dominique joined the management team in Roanoke as an Associate Sales Development Manager. Since then, Dominique also had the opportunity to assist in training and development in Greater Atlanta, Orlando, Columbus, Greater Detroit, Charlotte and Savannah.

Dominique joined in the Greater Washington team in 2013 and is currently the Director of Development in the Greater Washington General Office. Some of her responsibilities include partner development new org development, implementing NYLIC University, case development with new and established agents, marketing and retention.

Dominique currently resides in Washington, DC with her husband and 2 children.  She is on the Board of Directors of CaringMatters and LightHouse DC and is a very involved volunteer of The Children's Inn at NIH.

Kameron Bryant began his career at New York Life in August of 2016. He is a two time council agent out of the Charlotte General Office. He joined the Greater Washington management team in October of 2018. 

Kameron graduated from Appalachian State University. During his time at App State he was the quarterback of the football team, a member of Walker Fellows, and a member of the Risk Management and Insurance Chapter. He went on to pursue his Master's in Business Administration at Campbell University while playing football and working in the Financial Aid office. 

Kameron now lives in DC. In his spare time, Kameron enjoys spending time with his family and friends, near and far, playing pick-up basketball, and watching the Charlotte Hornets and Carolina Panthers. Besides his passion for sports, Kameron loves chicken wings and working out, especially at Orangetheory Fitness. 



Corporate Vice President, Service Leader

Matthew Stewart began his New York Life career in 2004 in the Service Leader Training Program at the Charleston General Office and then completed the program in the Jacksonville General Office.  In early 2007, Matt was appointed as the Director of Operations at the Greater South Carolina (Charleston) General Office for 11 years.

Matt graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing.  He was a member of the Gamecock Football Team and held various officer positions in a fraternity.  Matt has achieved FLMI, ACS, and AIRC designations from LOMA and is currently enrolled in CLU® courses through the American College.

In February of 2018, Matt was promoted to Corporate Vice President, Service Leader and joined the Greater Washington General Office. He and his Golden Retriever, Bauer, live in Rockville, MD and enjoy running and swimming.



Latino Market Manager

As the Latino Market Manager for the New York Life Greater Washington Office, Laura Languidey is responsible for attracting and hiring top sales talent to serve the financial needs of the Latino community within the DC metro area. She was born and raised in Bolivia and has lived in America for ten years.

Laura started at New York Life as a Financial Representative serving the Latino community in the D.C. area making Executive Council in her first year as an agent. After one year of finding success as financial representative, she was promoted to the Greater Washington Latino Market Manager.

Laura is an Alum of Metropolitana University and holds her Masters in Business Administration with an emphasis in business managements. She is married with two boys and loves volunteering for her church as well as local Latino community efforts.

Scott Potoma is the Senior Agency Standards Consultant in charge of standards and supervision for the Greater Washington General Office.

Scott joined New York Life in September of 2003 from his prior firm with 10 years of  industry experience.  He holds FINRA Series 7, 63, 65, 66 and 24 licenses.

Scott has a Bachelors degree from Salisbury (MD) University and a Juris Doctor degree from Tulane University.

Scott currently resides in Columbia, MD. He enjoys spending his down time attending his children's lacrosse and field hockey games, reading, gardening and cooking.
